I took this writing exercise from Linda’s Rief’s book The Quickwrite Handbook

  1. I did this exercise a few years ago with my students. I feel like it needs updating. Thank you for reminding me of this exercise. I love Rief’s The Quickwrite Handbook. Maybe I will try this with my students this week. Thank you for sharing this.

  2. “If there was no last time we’d hold hands” made me choke up a little. Actually a lot. I’ve done this activity before but completely forgot about it. Thanks for reminding me it was an option!

    1. I have a printer with a scanner and scanned my drawing to my computer using the scanner option in “system preferences”. You could probably take a picture of it with your phone too. Good luck!

  3. Thank you for sharing! Linda is so lovely. I was able to meet her at several writing conferences. I was writing down this morning that I will do some things with traced hands once we get back in person. Thank you for the reminder of this reflection!

  4. I love this prompt and activity. It is new to me and I’ll have to check out the book it came from. Thank you for sharing it. My favorite is the line about the Chopin Waltz. You might have inspired a post about fingers…I’ll have to think about it and see if I can make it work! Thanks for the inspiration!
